Losing, gaining, rinse, repeat
Ugh. I seem to be losing and regaining the same 3 lbs over and over again. I either have really good days, or totally off days. I may need to stop allowing myself cheat days, as I seem to have a very hard time recovering from them. Yesterday was a very good day. Today is going well too. The weekend sucked though. Fri, Sat, Sun, and Monday were high carb/junk days. I need to concentrate on having more good days than bad days in a given week.

Can I use yesterday's numbe for this weeks weigh in?
I had a pretty good primal week this week. Yesterday I weighed in at 151.2. Yay!
Starting Weight: 156
Previous Weigh-in: 152.4
This Weeks Weigh-in: 151.2
Last night was my Grandparents 60th annaversary, and we went out to dinner. Tonight is my first date night with my husband in what feels like forever, and I want Spagio's Lobster Bisque and Brie Pizza, so it's not going to be a very primal day either. So I'm just going to use Friday's number, since I like it.
I'm getting better at eating my salad. Not enjoying it really yet, but doing better. Also my carb cravings are diminishing. Not gone, but getting less. And I felt like crap after eating out last night, I had some bread before dinner, and there was cake and ice cream. I think the grains do me in more than sugar does though, because I don't feel that way after eating chocolate. Maybe I just never eat that much chocolate in a sitting.

Last week kicked my butt
I don't even think I broke even last week. I'm pretty sure I'm up a pound. I didn't even weigh myself this morning. Today is my guilt free cheat day, but I'm going to try to take it easy on the cheating. Tomorrow and Tuesday I'm going to try to make ketosis days (under 50 grams carbs) and then go back to my 100/day plan starting Wednesday. Hopefully I can get back on track. Again, it's dinner that's kicking my butt. I'm going to the grocery today and I'll get stuff for beef jerky. And I have chicken defrosting in the fridge, I'll cook that up to have on hand for easy quick dinners. And I need to make myself eat salad. I just really don't like it very much. Tuesday I'm going to try to get to Costco for spinich and blueberries and some stuff for the kids. Berries make great smoothies and are a lot lower carb than other fruits. If I can convince myself to ditch the banana I think my smoothies would be a lot better for me.

End of Week 2
Today was day 14, the end of my second week. All in all I feel like this is going well and is something I can keep up with. I do like allowing myself one cheat day a week, and hopefully as time goes by I won't feel the need to cheat as much or as badly. Today we went out to eat and had wings and french fries. Not exactly healthy, but at least it was grain free. And delish! Tomorrow is a work day, and I'm pretty sure I'll end up ordering pizza. That only happens twice a month, so it can't be that bad. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Starting Weight: 156
Previous weight: 153.4
Current Weight: 152.4
I'm down 1 lb since last week, and 3.6 lbs total. As long as I keep seeing progress, I'm not going to stress too much about how fast it's coming off. I am only 12 weeks post partum anyway. You know what they say, 9 months up, 9 months down. I guess we'll see. I'm going to try to get to yoga again this week.

Good news
My kefir grains are not dead!!! They took a couple of cycles to revive, but now they're going strong. Gotta have my kefir.
So I've been slacking a little with the daily updates, but not on my diet. Official weigh in is tomorrow, but so far things are looking really good. If I can keep this up for one more week I'll be at my lowest weight post baby. 3 more weeks should have me at my pre(Aria)pregnancy weight. I've been eating a lot of the same things, so it's not been a big deal to keep track. Breakfast is still green smoothies. Lunch is usually some meat and some cheese, and sometimes some salad. Dinners have been harder, but I've been trying to do chicken and salad. Last night I had chicken soup with rice which made for a higher carb day, but I still lost weight.
I'll try to find a 'before' picture to post, so I have a frame of reference. It's hard though, since I'm usually the one behind the camera, or I'm sitting on the couch covered in kids. We'll see what I can dig up.

Girl Scout Cookies = Evil
I was completely derailed yesterday by the arrival of my previously ordered Girl Scout Cookies. Pure evil delivered in a scruptious package by cute little girls. I also severly mismanaged an IF, and ended up out of the house when I got hungry, so by the time I got home I was famished and the cookies were right there. So I ate about 2/3 a box of Somoas. Then had a very fruit heavy green smoothie, and since my day was a bust anyway, a Reeces egg. And Brad brought home frozen yogurt. Yum. I have no idea how many carbs I had yesterday, but it was probably my whole weeks worth.
And I think I killed my kefir grains :(
Today is starting out much better. I did IF until noon, but I made a sensable smoothie and some beef jerky. I need to quit obsessively counting my carbs. Brad thinks we should concentrate on one thing at a time, and really cut out the grains, and work on sugar later.

Day 8
Well, yesterday was exactly one week in, and I'm pretty proud of my self.
Starting Weight: 156lb
Yesterday's weighin: 153.4
down 2.5 lbs, yay!
Yesterday was my cheat day. We had dinner at the grandparents and ate KFC, biscuits, soda, candy, etc. I didn't even attempt to keep track of what I ate. Today it's back on the wagon. Actually, last night was back on the wagon. I made a spinach and bacon fritata and a salad. It was pretty good. Brad has decided to go grain free with me as well (sugar has never been as much of a problem for him as it has for me) so I'll have some encouragement and incenteve to keep dinner primal too.

Wow, so this daily blogging stuff is almost harder to keep up with than the diet! Thursday I ate almost nothing at all, but what I did eat was pretty carby. Still, I think I was under 100gm for the day.
Friday
B: green smoothie, glass of milk - 73 carbs
L: cheese and salami - 2 carbs
D: sirloin steak w/A1 and iced tea (and a few bites of mashed potatoes, but really just a taste) - 4 carbs
S: two glasses of milk - 44 carbs
That puts me at about 123 carbs for yesterday. With about 66 of them coming from milk. So if the weightloss starts to slow down any, I know an easy place to cut back. However, right now I'm loving my fresh raw Jersey milk, and will probably keep drinking as much as I want. After all, it's not a grain, and it's not refined sugar!
My official weigh in isn't until tomorrow morning, but as of today I'm down more than 3 lbs, so I'm very encouraged.

Oi, today hurts!!
Yesterday I count as another success! My carbs were around 103, not too bad at all. Also soda and grain free. And I got back to my Yoga class. But I think I pushed it too hard. I woke up this morning feeling like I'd been hit by a truck. All my muscles hurt, and I had nausea (I threw up once), headach, and the runs. I'm feeling a little better now, but I slept until about 1:00. It's a good thing my children are perfect angels. They take good care of their mama.
Yesterdays Meals -
B: Green smoothie - i cut down on the fruit a little and this came in at 40 carbs
L: Cheese and smoked salmon, glass of raw milk, tea with a little honey, milk, co and some carrots. - 36 carbs, mostly from the milk
S: 1 egg omlett w/bacon - 3 carbs
D: Egg drop soup, glass of milk - 22 carbs, all from the milk
Today so far:
B: nuthin
L: 16 oz pepsi, small piece of milk chocolate, large glass of milk - 81 carbs
I'm thinking about beans and rice tonight, so it may be a higher carb day.

Yesterday, Success!!
Well, I'm counting yesterday as a success. I roasted two chickens so I had chicken and salad for dinner. I also had a big afternoon snack, so I wasn't starving after dinner and reaching for munchies. My carbs were up around 140, so I'm going to try putting less fruit in my green smoothie, and adding a dash of stevia powder. It's pretty yummy, and that puts my morning smoothie at about 40 carbs, instead of 70 or so.
Yesterdays meals
B: yogurt with honey (another reason for the higher carbs, but today I'm putting honey in my tea, so I'm going to have to figure it in)
L: didn't happen until almost 4:00, and was bacon and some cashews. It was kind of on the go.
S:Green smoothie, I just had to get it in!
D: Chicken and salad
Dinner was kind of late, and I really wasn't hungry after dinner which was nice. Aside from my smoothie, it seems like a lot of my carbs are coming from dairy, milk and yogurt. I'll cut down on the yogurt, but I love my raw milk, and yesterday was actually a low milk day. Hopefully cutting down on the smoothie a little will free up some room for all those raw dairy carbs, because I'm not giving them up quite yet.

So yesterday was again, a complete bust. I do so well during the day, but dinner gets me every time. I was working all day yesterday and by the time dinner rolled around I had no motivation, so I ordered a pizza. Then our neighbor came over with her son and we made margs (not for the kids)and I had two, and a beer, and tortilla chips. I suck at life.
I think I'm going to stick to weekly weigh-ins. But here is my breakdown from yesterdays food.
B: Green smoothie
L: cheese and salami
S: Cashews
D: Pizza
S: tortilla chips and margaritas.

Dinner at the grandparents did not go very well. We had beef briskit (good) with noodles, bread, and chocolate for dessert (bad bad bad) I did manage to not have any soda though, so score one point for willpower. I had only a small serving of noodles, but I had three slices of home made bread. Drinking water now, and tomorrow is another day.
Day 1, For Real This Time
So I've been trying this low carb high fat high protein diet for several weeks now. My problem? It's easy to add in good fat, it's hard to actually cut out the carbs. So here goes. I plan to cut out all grains and refined sugars. I'm leaving myself access to honey, maple syrup, dates, and fruit. If I'm hungry, I will eat, even if I feel like I've been eating all day, as long as it stays within the no carbs guidelines. I hope to keep my carbs to around 100gm/day, but I'm not going to be super strict on that yet, mostly I need to get over my sugar and grain addictions. I'm going to try to keep a daily log of what I eat, and my weigh-ins once a week. Also how I feel and how my energy/mood is responding.
Day 1
Weigh In: 156 lb (ouch, this is the most I've ever weighed not pregnant, and is 10 lbs heavier than my most pregnant weight with my first)
B: Green Smoothie
L: cheese, salami, salad, glass of raw milk, glass of grape juice kefir (much less sugar than actual grape juice since the microbes eat the sugar) handful of walnuts
D: at the grands. I have no idea what g-ma is serving, so I'll just do my best. NO SODA!!!!!
Goals:
Week 1: ditch the sugar and grains
Week 2: drink more water
Week 3: eat a BAS (big ass salad) every day
Week 4: refine my carb count
